Negligence to Treat the Dying as if They Are Going to Get Well

In 1970, Paul Ramsey published The Patient as Person: Explorations in Medical Ethics.  This is a foundational work in bioethics.

45 years later, I find this sentence to be particularly apt:

“Just as it would be negligence to the sick to treat them as if they were about to die, so it is another sort of “negligence” to treat the dying as if they are going to get well or might get well.”
