Victoria Passes Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017

The Australian state of Victoria has legalized medical aid in dying, allowing terminally ill patients the right to request a lethal drug to end their lives from June 2019.

This is the first time that MAID has been legal in Australia since the short-lived (1996-1997) Northern Territory law, the first operative MAID law in the world.
