Bringing Competence & Compassion to End of Life Care

Join the Minnesota Coalition for Death Education and Support (MCDES) on October 5, 2018 for their fall conference: “Bringing Competence & Compassion to End of Life Care.”


The keynote speaker is Louis Gamino, PhD, ABPP, FT, Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Science at Texas A & MHealth Science Center College of Medicine and Scott & White Healthcare in Temple, Texas. 


End-of-life conversations are never easy. This interactive workshop will provide practical strategies to enhance those conversations, illustrated by clinical examples. Physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, therapists, spiritual health practitioners and any others who work with patients and families at or near end-of-life will also learn self-care strategies that build personal resiliency. The conference will cover these topics: (1) Theory Informing End of Life Discussions, (2) Praxis: Applying Theory to the Clinical Encounter, (3) Ethical Dilemmas  Associated with End of Life Discussions, and (4) Self-Care for Health Professionals Working in End of Life & Bereavement.
