Vincent Lambert suffered catastrophic brain damage after a 2008 car accident. With the consent of Lambert’s wife and six of his eight brothers and sisters, clinicians decided to withdraw artificial nutrition and hydration. But Lambert’s parents contested the decision arguing that Lambert’s condition might improve.

The case has already gone to the highest court in France and to the European Court of Human Rights. The latest judgment, from the Administrative Court of Châlons-en-Champagne, again sides with Lambert’s wife, confirming that the current treatment is “unreasonable obstinacy” or “therapeutic relentlessness.” (Le Monde)
