Bioethics is a land of illegal intellectual immigrants. Its inhabitants are persons with an academic license to practice in one discipline who move back and forth across disciplinary borders. Philosophers wander into medicine; doctors migrate into philosophy; theologians roam into genetics. George Annas, a lawyer, is among the more prominent and undisguised of these immigrants. He has always acknowledged this immigrant status and so, appropriately, he subtitles his latest book ?Crossing Human Rights and Health Law Boundaries.?
