The Second Cycle or master’s degree in
Bioethics lasts two years (four semesters)
and it offers a total of 120 ECTS.
Those who can access the Second Cycle
have already obtained a First Cycle Degree
(or an equivalent title) in bioethics
or in a discipline related to one of the
following areas: life and health sciences;
philosophy; theology; law. Every other
case will be evaluated by the Dean. The
courses for the master’s degree are organized
in two modalities: a) weekly
courses, which occur during the semester,
from Monday to Friday; b) intensive
courses, which are condensed into two
weeks per semester. To obtain the degree,
the students must participate in all
courses, pass the related exams and write
the thesis of the master’s degree.

At the end of the master’s degree, the
students will have acquired:
• Knowledge of specialized contents of
• The ability to understand, in an organic
and interdisciplinary manner, the above-
mentioned topics
• The ability to offer thoughtful judgements
on these issues, in harmony
with the Magisterium of the Church
• The ability to communicate, on a scientific
level, the major themes relevant to
the bioethical field
• The necessary skills for academic teaching,
research, consultancy in bioethics
subjects and for the active participation
in various types of institutions.

each student will have to pay an annual
academic fee of €3,640, plus €200 of enrollment.

The master’s degree in bioethics is for those
interested in developing knowledge and
skills in bioethics, and in particular:
• Health operators and biomedicine researchers
who tackle complex ethical issues
• Priests, religious and other pastoral
• Operators involved in public choices and
legal regulation regarding these issues
• Operators of training, organization or
cultural mediation in the field of health
and biotechnology or related fields
• Representatives of entities and associations
involved in issues with bioethical
• Anyone who wishes to deepen their
knowledge of bioethical problems and
participate in their resolution in practice
