The Stanford Center for Law and the Biosciences
invites applications for
2007/08 FELLOWSHIPS
in the study of
LAW AND THE BIOSCIENCES
Applicants who are seriously interested in legal issues surrounding new discoveries in the biosciences are encouraged to apply for our CLB Fellowship Program. Fellows attend seminars featuring nationally recognized experts, are eligible for research funding, and enjoy a collegial interdisciplinary environment designed to help further their research and expand their thinking. Fellows will be expected to assist in the Center's activities; they may also have an opportunity to teach.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1, 2007
Notification of selection will be not later than June 9, 2007.
Applicants should submit a brief letter (3-5 pages) that describes their interest in legal issues surrounding the biosciences, sets out their background, and outlines the project they propose to pursue under the fellowship program. The Center is very broadly interested in the intersection between law and the biosciences: genetics, neuroscience, development, evolution, environmental issues, or even nanotechnology are among the scientific fields that would be relevant. The letter should identify the objectives of the proposed project and the nature of the research and analysis to be done, but it need not layout a detailed research plan. The project may be related to research already under way, or it may be separate from other work. Please identify any existing faculty advisors or sponsors associated with the research project or proposed advisors or sponsors at Stanford Law School or more broadly at Stanford University. A resume and a list of references that we may contact should accompany the letter.
Application packages must be emailed as an attachment to Ms. Angela Lawton (alawton@stanford.edu) by midnight on Monday, May 1, 2007
All applicants must apply via the Stanford Jobs website at http://jobs.stanford.edu/find_a_job.html. Enter: 24165 in the 'Keyword Search' field at the bottom of the page. Scroll up and click on the job link to view posting and apply.
For more information, consult the CLB website at http://clb.stanford.edu, or contact the Director of the Center for Law and the Biosciences Professor Hank Greely (hgreely@stanford.edu, 650-723.2517) or Executive Director of the Stanford Program in Law, Science & Technology Roland Vogl (rvogl@law.stanford.edu, 650-723.8532).
Please feel free to forward this announcement to anyone who might be interested in Center for Law and the Biosciences fellowships.
