The Department of Bioethics & Humanities at the University of Washington School of Medicine (Seattle) invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track faculty positions, one at the Assistant or Associate Professor level; the other at the Assistant Professor level. Faculty will be required to bring in extramural research funding, which will cover a portion of salary. Assistant or Associate Professor: Assistant Professor: We are recruiting for a full-time (100% FTE, 12-month service period), tenure-track faculty position in the University of Washington School of Medicine’s Department of Bioethics & Humanities at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Responsibilities of this position include: Research in bioethics supported by independent, extramural funding, plus health-related research in other areas related to a candidate’s expertise Teaching in undergraduate, graduate, and other departmental educational programs Service to the university, school and department This position requires strong interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, and professionalism in practice. The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator motivated to share ideas with others by means of peer-reviewed publishing, interdisciplinary collaboration, and establishing robust extramural funding. Qualifications Eligible candidates must have completed a doctoral or terminal degree in a bioethics-related discipline (e.g., PhD, MD, JD, or foreign equivalent) and have demonstrated expertise in bioethics through education, teaching and/or publishing. Candidates with backgrounds in fields that intersect with bioethics research and scholarship, such as law, medicine, information science, neuroscience, public health, philosophy, genetics, nursing, social work, the humanities, and social sciences are welcome to apply.
