Geisinger Health System has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Professor in bioethics research. Geisinger is one of the nation's largest health service organizations. We are dedicated to setting the standard for evidence-based care delivery—informed by empirical and conceptual bioethics research.

The Assistant Professor will work with Geisinger clinical and research faculty, but will be directly accountable to the chief bioethics officer and director, Center for Translational Bioethics and Health Care Policy.

Responsibilities include:

*Conducting and supervising original research in accordance with nationally accepted ethical and regulatory guidelines, and throughout all stages, from study design to the publication of research findings.
*Seeking and eventually obtaining external funding from both public and private sources.
*Directing study teams, as well as serving as a collaborating member of other teams at Geisinger and other institutions.
*Serving the institution through participation on task forces, working groups and committees.

The ideal candidate will have research interests in one or more of the following areas:

*Patient engagement in research, innovation, and quality improvement
*Patient centered care and shared decision making
*Serious illness and end of life care

S/he will also have—or be willing to develop and acquire—skills in the conduct of mixed methods research.

PhD in relevant discipline or MD/DO preferred; terminal degree and clinical training with national board certification in relevant clinical specialty may be accepted.
