The Department of Bioethics at the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The Department has a longstanding history of outstanding research, education, and service. Its nationally- and internationally-recognized faculty have expertise in bioethics, medical humanities, and social medicine, with particular areas of specialization including genetic research ethics, international research ethics, stem cell ethics and regenerative medicine, eating disorders and body image, biobanking, clinical ethics, and other evolving ethics-related research areas. The Department has a thriving Bioethics and Medical Humanities MA program, and is relaunching its highly successful PhD program. The Department also boasts an outstanding record of university, national, and international service.

Applicants must have a terminal degree (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarly activity in Bioethics, Medical Humanities, Social Medicine, or related areas and the potential to advance his/her own line of independent research. The successful candidate will also have the interest and demonstrated ability, through a record of successful grant applications and/or relevant training, to develop and submit proposals to NIH, NSF, or other suitable funding sources. Candidates must be eager to collaborate with the Department’s multi-disciplinary faculty, and to contribute to the Department’s teaching programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and medical school levels. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment in working with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students.
The successful candidate will begin work ideally in fall or winter 2022.

CWRU is located in the University Circle area of Cleveland, Ohio.
