UPMC Presbyterian/Shadyside is hiring a full-time Medical Ethicist to support our Case Management operations for our campuses in the Oakland and Shadyside neighborhoods in the city of Pittsburgh.

This position is full-time Monday through Friday, working daylight hours. Occasional on-call may be needed.

In this role, you will provide consultative services for a wide range of ethical disputes related to patient care, including informed consent, surrogate decision making, goals of care, organ donation, and medical futility. You will provide information, education, and recommendations to physicians, nurses, patients, and families on ethical issues. Additionall, you will guide and recommend hospital polices related to ethical patient care. You will act as a leader on our hospital ethics committee, as well as supervising on-call ethicists and trainees in the department. In the course of your work, you will also collect, analyze, and report quality improvement data about our ethics programs.
