Details:
The Program Assistant provides support to a 3-year grant – to include planning for conferences on selected topics on the ethics and the spiritual care of patients at the end of life, as understood from a Christian perspective. The Program Assistant has duties that that include but are not limited to:

Research

- Assists the project Director In research and writing on this topic.
- Performs library and reference work.
- Assists with manuscript editing and preparation.

Conference Planning and Implementation

- Prepares correspondence with speakers.
- Arranges speaker travel.
- Arranges meeting rooms, AV, and conference logistics.
- Performs internal bookkeeping for conference.
- Handles catering arrangements for conferences.
- Handles conference publicity and mailing lists.
- Maintains contact with the donor.

Publication of Conference Papers

- Works with speakers to submit manuscripts.
- Works with the publisher.
- Copyedits manuscripts.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree
- Comfortable and familiar with Christian thinking on the topics to be covered in this project
- Experience in humanities research, writing, and editing
- Interest in working on this project for all 3 years

Preferred qualifications

Experience performing the following:
- Conference Planning: maintain correspondence with speakers, assist in arranging speakers' travel, arrange for meeting rooms, AV and conference logistics, catering, and supplies; and coordinate publicity and mailing lists
- Publication of conference papers: work with speakers on manuscript submission, as well as with the publisher; and copyedit manuscripts
- Research: assists research and writing on the topic; perform library and reference work; and assist with manuscript preparation and editing.
