Details:
The Research Fellow will be working at the NUS Centre for Biomedical Ethics on the CENTRES (Clinical Ethics Network + Research Ethics Support) project. Funded by the Ministry of Health, CENTRES is a networking and training platform to enhance capabilities in ethics committees work in Singapore. The position lasts for one year, with the possibility of annual renewal for two more years if performance is satisfactory.

The Research Fellow is expected to:
• Build expertise on and keep abreast of current research in clinical, research and/or transplant ethics consistent with the work of CENTRES.
• Lead the development and implementation of blended and online courses for clinical ethics committees (CECs), institutional review boards (IRBs) and transplant ethics committees (TECs).
This will include:
o Curriculum design
o Web-based learning integration
o Face-to-face training
o Research on course effectiveness and impact
o Further revision of courses based on research, feedback and observations.
• Assist in developing programmes and materials for CENTRES workshops, conferences, and short courses.
• Provide organizational assistance to support staff internally and externally for the above training activities.
• Serve as an observer or member on a research or clinical ethics committee, using experiences to inform the design of training activities.
• Grow the CENTRES network through outreach to members of CECs, IRBs and TECs (and affiliated institutions).
• Lead regular meetings of local CEC and IRB chairs to further develop training programmes and encourage discussion and deliberation over best practices and approaches to their work.
• Prepare the content of monthly news reports and analysis updating CENTRES members on current clinical and research ethics issues.
• Contribute to the CENTRES blog with topical commentary on research, clinical and transplant ethics issues.
• Perform other related duties incidental to this job description.

Qualifications
• PhD in a field relevant to the above activities, including but not limited to: bioethics, law, philosophy, nursing, theology, anthropology and sociology; or, a professional degree in medicine or law with formal training or extensive practical experience in bioethics. (Please note that
exceptional candidates with a Masters degree and/or certain work experience may also be considered).
• Ability to teach topics in research ethics, clinical ethics and transplant ethics.
• Research record on topics in one of the following: research ethics, clinical ethics, or
transplant ethics.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
