Crowdfunding is a response to personal and social crises. Not surprisingly, many individuals and organizations are turning to crowdfunding to help those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. These campaigns have already received over $60 million in donations. It is a makeshift response to institutional failures and not a fair or sustainable solution to crises.
