Many doctors think PSA tests don’t work. But they’ll keep doing them anyway.

It was among the government’s most controversial health care guidelines: Doctors should stop performing a cancer screening they’ve provided for decades. The screening at hand is the Prostate-Specific Antigen, or PSA test used to screen men for prostate cancer. Last week, the Preventive Services Task Force came out with a recommendation that doctors not perform the screening, contending that it does more harm than good.
