The Division of Medical Ethics seeks to recruit a post-doctoral fellow for a position to begin September 1, 2019.
Core qualifications for the positions include: an excellent record of quality scholarship and teaching. Applicants must have a PhD, JD, or MD. Successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate a strong scholarly career track in research ethics, or the ethics of using big data, or genetics. Familiarity with writing grant proposals is desirable, as is familiarity with survey and/or qualitative research.
The appointment will be for one year and may be renewed for a second year. The appointment will be in the Division of Medical Ethics, which is housed in the Department of Population Health at the NYU School of Medicine. The post-doctoral fellow will report directly to the director of the Division of Medical Ethics.
Successful applicants will have significant protected time to pursue research. They will be expected to (1) participate in mentoring students in projects and research, (2) work on issues raised by expanded access to unapproved drugs, vaccines, and other types of investigational agents, (3) publish at least one scholarly article per year, (4) assist with the operations of the NYU School of Medicine Working Group on Compassionate Use and Pre-Approval Access (CUPA) and the Compassionate Use Advisory Group (CompAC), (5) collaborate with other division faculty, and 6) participate in ethics teaching as needed.
Stipend is $50,000 per year. Benefits are provided.
