JOB TITLE: Research Assistant I – Philosophy and Bioethics

LOCATION: Baylor College of Medicine
Houston, Texas

The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a part-time Research Assistant I (up to 15 hours/week) to provide support in the area of philosophy and bioethics as part of the Philosophical Bioethics Seminar Series funded through the Greenwall Foundation and led by Jennifer Blumenthal-Barby, PhD. The goal of this initiative is to increase the footprint (quality and quantity) of the philosophical aspects of bioethics. This position can be conducted remotely and is currently funded through August 2021.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Assists in the translation of research and content from the Philosophical Bioethics SeminarSeries into a sustainable platform for the bioethics community
  • Assists with development of new educational content and resources related to philosophicalbioethics
  • Helps plan and implement widespread dissemination of philosophical bioethics materials
  • Helps oversee project and timelines to ensure successful completion of all project componentsand deliverables in a timely manner
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information
  • Attends project meetings
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

    • Education Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher in philosophy, bioethics, or a related fieldrequired
    • Experience Required: Two years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and written communication skills, including experience in presentation and educational content development
  • Ability to display a professional, positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills and communication skills required and must be able to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in accepting work assignments with the ability toeffectively prioritize tasks, understand processes, and resolve issues
